Introduction to CollectionBuilder-SHEETS

Learn how to use CollectionBuilder, a free digital collection website that encourages browsing and contextualizing items through timelines, maps, and word cloud visualizations.

In this recorded workshop—which was originally held on March 6, 2024, and taught by Julia Stone (University of Idaho), Olivia Wikle (Iowa State University), and Evan Peter Williamson (University of Idaho)—viewers learn how to use CollectionBuilder-Sheets (SHEETS), a CollectionBuilder template released in 2024 that enables users to build digital collections directly from a Google Sheet of metadata.

The first part of the workshop reviews how to use SHEETS’ built-in development mode to prototype, test, and share a draft of your digital collection site. Next, participants learn how to publish a permanent digital collection site using SHEETS. There are demo metadata and digital objects available to use (available by visiting the CollectionBuilder Demo Site), but participants are also welcome to use their own metadata and objects. While viewing this recorded workshop, users are encouraged to visit the CollectionBuilder-SHEETS webpage for access to additional resources, including examples of CollectionBuilder sites.
