From the beginning, the Papers of Martin Van Buren has used undergraduate students on the project to help support Cumberland University’s mission of providing them with “a contemporary liberal arts education.” We are committed to giving students the opportunity to make an original contribution to the historical field. The one-on-one training and mentorship in which project staff engage also prepare students to practice equitable collegiality in their future careers.
