About Me |
I am a historian and a documentary editor specializing in nineteenth-century America. Since 2020 I have been editor and project director of the Correspondence of Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore at American University’s Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies. Previously I spent a decade at the Correspondence of James K. Polk at the University of Tennessee and one year at the Papers of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony at Rutgers University. Besides the editions, I have edited James K. Polk and His Times: Essays at the Conclusion of the Polk Project, written Reconstructing the Campus: Higher Education and the American Civil War, and published articles in scholarly journals including New England Quarterly and The Good Society. I previously sat on the Council of the Association for Documentary Editing and now serve on two of its committees.
