This course, which is co-sponsored by DHSI and eLaboratories, aims to introduce educators to the field of recovery and its value as a pedagogical tool. From June 15-19, participants will be introduced to the goals of recovery and what it may look like in practice. Following this introduction, course instructors will guide participants through the process of planning a recovery project for their classroom.
SNACSchool Indigenous Create and Edit, a virtual event to be held April 22, 1:00–5:00 PM EDT, is a multi-module course geared towards those interested in editing Indigenous entities in SNAC and uses inclusive Indigenous examples and specific ethical considerations. Registration is open to all, but Indigenous community members are particularly encouraged to attend, as well as others who may provide reference to Indigenous topics or collections. Previously recorded sessions and PDFs of slide decks are also available to revisit steps and refresh your memory.

From October 8–10, Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage (Recovery) and the Association for Documentary Editing (ADE) will host a joint conference in Houston, Texas. This first-ever collaboration between Recovery and ADE will bring together scholars, archivists, editors, students and community practitioners to explore how figures and documents—canonical, forgotten, official and grassroots—have shaped the histories, literatures and identities of the United States.
On September 3, from 4:00–6:00 PM EST, Indigenize SNAC will host Indigenous SNAC Research and Reference. On November 14, from 11:30 AM–5:00 PM EST, Indigenize SNAC will host an edit-a-thon aimed at improving the discovery of Indigenous archival material that has been dispersed to multiple repositories. The event will also explore best practices around entities in SNAC for Indigenous, Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, or First Nations individuals and Nations, as well as for colonial actors and institutions whose records hold relevance for Indigenous researchers.
On October 14 and 15, from 1:00-5:00 PM EST each day, Indigenize SNAC will host SNAC Create and Edit, a multi-module course geared towards those interested in editing in SNAC.
On August 13, 2025, eLaboratories hosted Voices of the Eastern Shore for a discussion on the value of a multi-disciplinary approach to editing. Led by Dreanna Belden—Director of External Partnerships at the University of North Texas Libraries and a graduate of the Institute for the Editing of Historical Documents (the precursor to eLabs)—Voices of the Eastern Shore brings together the best practices of library science and editing to bring to life the Somerset County Historical Trust’s long-held goal of publishing the letters of Elizabeth Upshur Teackle.
